Elbit Unveils Miniature Radar-Guided Missile Countermeasure

Elbit Systems unveiled the Nano SPEAR radar-guided air-to-air and surface-to-air missile countermeasure system at the Paris Airshow.

The Nano is part of the SPEAR family of active radio frequency decoy systems, including the Micro SPEAR for very small platforms, Light SPEAR for medium-large sized helicopters and drones, and the Advanced SPEAR currently installed on the C-390 transport aircraft.

Features

The 800-gram (1.76 pounds) system uses the aircraft’s existing dispensing system to lure away attacking radar-guided missiles.

The system is compatible with the aircraft’s existing electronic warfare system but also capable of operating without it. It features an advanced digital receiver, digital radio frequency memory, and a sophisticated electronic warfare technique generator.

“We are proud to enable our customers’ high-end protection capabilities to increase their platform survivability and aircrew safety,” Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW general manager Oren Sabag said.
