Royal Australian Navy replenishment ship HMAS Supply sails through Sydney Harbour after taking on fuel from the commercial fuel depot at Gore Cove. *** Local Caption *** Royal Australian Navy replenishment ship HMAS Supply completed another first since commissioning after passing under Sydney Harbour Bridge on Wednesday, 18 May 2022. HMAS Supply took on fuel from the commercial fuel depot at Gore Cove on the western side of Sydney Harbour Bridge ahead of departing Fleet Base East as part of a regional presence deployment en route to Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) in Hawaii. This was another first for the Supply-class oiler replenishment ships -- HMAS Supply and HMAS Stalwart -- as they continue to expand their operating capability. HMAS Supply was commissioned on 10 April 2021 and the second ship, HMAS Stalwart, was commissioned seven months later on 13 November 2021. The double-hulled ships carry fuel, dry cargo, water, food, ammunition, equipment and spare parts to provide operational support for deployed Navy ships and to support Australian Defence Force operations far from the port. HMAS Supply has already provided vital support to Operation Tonga Assist 2022.

The activity was supported by 5th Aviation Regiment. Soldiers conducted loading and offloading drills, refining their skills for air mobile operations. The training enhances Battle Group Rams readiness for major exercises such as Exercise Diamond Strike or operational deployments.
