Patria to Supply NEMO Mortar Systems for Future Swedish Artillery Vessels

Patria will deliver mortar systems to Swede Ship Marine to support Sweden’s amphibious force modernization.

The Finnish company will supply its NEMO 120-millimeter mortar systems for the eight artillery vessels under construction at Swede Ship Marine.

The vehicles will be stationed in Stockholm and Gothenburg to support the Swedish Amphibious Battalion’s naval firepower.

Patria will also provide additional mortar systems for training.

NEMO Mortar System

The NEMO is a light, compact turret system for fast-moving surface vessels and mechanized vehicles. The weapon system can be integrated into a wide range of platforms, including Patria’s own 6×6 armored vehicle currently under development.

“We have developed the best possible solution for Swedish amphibious troops together with Swede Ship Marine AB,” Patria Nordics Market Head Mats Warstedt said.

“It is yet another example of Swedish–Finnish corporate cooperation, and it also confirms the unique position of Patria’s NEMO mortar system in the Nordic market, as well as globally.”

Amphibious Expansion in Sweden

Sweden’s future artillery vessels are being constructed as part of a program to expand the country’s amphibious military capabilities by 2030.

The effort will enhance the country’s naval weapons stations, coastal security, and maritime mobility.

Swede Ship is set to deliver the vessels from 2027 to 2028. Training systems for the platform will be provided to Sweden from 2026 to 2027.
