Spain Buys More E-Lynx Radios From Elbit Systems

Spain has awarded Elbit Systems a contract to deliver its E-LynX software-defined radios (SDR) to the Spanish Army.

The capability supports multi-channel network capacity and provides dynamic and autonomous configurations depending on mission requirements.

The radios will be made and maintained in Spain. Once employed, the technology will enable “fast, resilient, and secure communications in any terrain.”

Furthermore, the radios will be equipped with the country’s national crypto architecture in partnership with local telecommunications company Telefonica.

Spain’s Sovereign Radio

The agreement is part of the Spanish Directorate-General for Armament and Material’s Urgent Acquisition of Very/Ultra High-Frequency SDR Radio Equipment program.

The contract follows Madrid’s deals with Elbit in 2020 and 2021 to integrate the radios into combat battalions and 8X8 Dragon vehicles.

“We are proud to provide our cutting-edge network and radio technology to the Spanish Army,” Elbit Systems C4I and Cyber General Manager Haim Delmar stated.

“This contract further validates the technological and operational advantages of our software defined radios. We remain committed to providing a Spanish soverign radio and supporting the Spanish defense industry and its Armed Forces.”
