Finland Investing $20M in New Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles

The Finnish Ministry of Defence has approved the procurement of new armored multi-purpose vehicles for 19.1 million euros ($20.32 million).

According to a press release, the ministry will purchase 25 GTP 4×4 armored vehicles from local defense firm Oy Sisu Auto.

They will be handed over to the Finnish Army to support missions including troop transport and ground patrol.

The defense firm has previously been contracted to produce GTP vehicles for the country’s military, receiving an order in 2020 for six multi-purpose vehicles in two configurations: a five-seat general purpose vehicle and a ten-seat armored personnel carrier.

Finnish troops have already tested the GTPs, so it is expected that the army will easily integrate the vehicles.

Features

The Sisu GTP is a modular vehicle with different variants and operational uses.

It has interchangeable components, making it versatile and easy to maintain.

The vehicle’s core components are based on mass-produced truck parts to keep its life cycle costs low.

According to Oy Sisu Auto, the GTP has a maximum speed of 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour and a payload capacity of 5,000 kilograms (11,023 pounds).
