US Army Orders More CH-47F Chinook Helicopters From Boeing

The US Army has placed an order for an additional two CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters from American aerospace giant Boeing.

According to company official Ken Eland, the CH-47F Block II could limit future sustainment costs and improve the army’s readiness in addressing various threats.

“Modernizing the Chinook for our Army customer is a priority,” he said. “We’re dedicated to making CH-47F Block II the best option for the Army’s heavy lift mission, now and well into the future.”

Boeing’s Chinook Block II helicopters are equipped with cutting-edge technologies to meet future heavy-lift mission requirements.

They have redesigned fuel tanks, a strengthened fuselage, and an improved drivetrain to fly “faster, farther, and smarter.”

Last year, the US Army awarded a $136 million contract to the American firm for the production of the first four CH-47F Block II aircraft.

The additional order brings the total number of upgraded helicopters under contract to six.
