Brazilian aerospace firm Embraer has selected its subsidiary OGMA to deliver support and maintenance for the A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft.
Through the project, OGMA will provide the services in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
The agreement will enable OGMA to receive certification for aircraft maintenance and relay services to current A-29 customers, generate revenue, and bolster its Portuguese Aeronautical Cluster.
The company will also work on modernization services following the maintenance certification.
“We are following market developments for the A-29 Super Tucano and intend for OGMA to become a service center of excellence for the aircraft,” Embraer Services and Support President and CEO Johann Bordais said.
“OGMA is a strategic asset for Embraer in the EMEA region, playing a central role in many present and future projects of our company.”
Expanding A-29 Service
Embraer has delivered over 260 A-29s to over 15 air forces, including Nigeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Mauritius, and Mali.
“The A-29 Super Tucano is generating a lot of interest in several European air forces,” Embraer Defense and Security President and CEO Jackson Schneider added.
“Embraer, together with OGMA on the services field, is preparing to respond to the market by executing the modifications and technological evolution that are requested to meet various missions in the most effective way.”
Recently, OGMA received a $74 million investment from aircraft engine developer Pratty & Whitney for maintenance certification supporting the Airbus A320neo’s GTF PW1100G-JM geared propulsion systems.
OGMA’s current scope of operations is logistical support for the Super Tucano demonstrator, which provides mission demonstrations for future customers.
