The US Air Force has awarded a contract to Aleut Information Technology to support visual data aggregators on its intelligence platform.
Aleut will deliver maintenance, development, and related support services to the command’s existing OA/DCGS (open architecture distributed common ground system) and FPED (forward processing exploitation and dissemination) systems, according to the deal.
Aleut will also continue to update FPED software and hardware, and train and work with operators.
The firm will also survey USAF personnel for necessary future updates and improvement of user experience.
The USAF and Aleut agreed on a potential contract duration of three years, including one and two-year base period options.
Aleut will partner with the platform’s incumbent contractor, MetroStar, and retain original subcontractors and key members of the original project team.
“We want to help analysts provide better output to their agencies,” Aleut Federal Technology Services Vice President Geoff Vaughan said.
“We know how critical it is that information be processed and distributed efficiently and accurately. Aleut will continue to generate software updates at a quick cadence, adding capabilities that improve the functionality of the platform, and empower operators.”
OA/DCGS and FPED
FPED is utilized to collect data types, including geospatial intelligence, photographs, and video from service aircraft.
It processes the information through subject matter experts in many countries that analyze the imagery and identify items of interest, including vehicles, weapons, and troops.
The platforms then disseminate the data through OA/DCGS to the subsystems of government agencies such as the US Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.
