The Indian Army on Tuesday received a wide range of military weapons and equipment developed under the “Make in India” initiative.
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh handed over the weapon systems during a ceremony in Delhi.
The supplies are expected to enhance the operational preparedness of the military amid prolonged border conflicts with China and Pakistan.
The delivery included surveillance systems, assault patrol boats, quick reaction fighting vehicles, and automatic communication systems.
The Indian Army also received advanced thermal imagers, an upgraded sight system for tanks, and a new anti-personnel mine, the “Nipun.”
Additionally, Singh handed over the full gear of the Future Infantry Soldier as a System (F-INSAS), which includes an AK-203 select-fire assault rifle with a maximum range of 300 meters (984 feet).

Additional Supplies
To increase soldier survivability, the defense ministry transferred ballistic goggles, helmets, and bulletproof vests that can protect against nine-millimeter ammunition.
The army also received rifle-mounted holographic sights with a range of 200 meters (656 feet) suitable for target acquisition.
A helmet-mounted night vision device was also delivered.
According to Singh, the newly-delivered equipment and systems will help enhance the combat readiness and increase the efficiency and lethality of the Indian Army.
“It is a shining example of the country’s growing self-reliance prowess, in partnership with the private sector and other institutions,” he said.
