Sikorsky to Deliver King Stallion Training Device to US Navy

The US Navy will procure an extra flight training device from Sikorsky Aircraft for the CH-53K King Stallion helicopter.

The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division ordered the equipment to enhance flight training for the chopper.

The Sikorsky CH-53K containerized flight training device (CFTD) is being produced according to a low-rate initial production Lot 4 configuration “in support of CH-53K Phase II training system efforts” of the division.

The CFTD comes with advanced displays, simulating aerial tactics and various weather scenarios.

Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin group, will complete the work for the $32.64 million contract in Connecticut, Florida, and Virginia by December 2024.

The expected date for the CH-53K King Stallion’s full-rate production is 2023, while the first deployment with the US military is scheduled in 2024.
