Italian electronics company Eurolink Systems has announced that it will unveil its Beluga mini-drone during the Xponential 2022 unmanned and autonomous systems exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
A dual-use aircraft, the Beluga is reportedly capable of adapting to various missions such as short-range reconnaissance, search and rescue, critical delivery, and urban logistics support.
According to the company, the mini-drone “combines art with science” and offers “unparalleled” ease of use to the military.
“We’ve also worked hard to address the complexity of designing and integrating technology into drone platforms,” Eurolink chief executive Pietro Lapiana said. “With Beluga, customers can get an integrated, robust solution with no development time, at a third of the cost of a fully tested custom solution.”
The Beluga can fly up to 60 minutes and travel at a maximum speed of 110 kilometers (68 miles) per hour.
Additional Capabilities
According to a report by Drone Life, the Beluga has been configured to meet target applications and demanding environmental conditions.
Eurolink Systems explained that the aircraft can operate as a dedicated drone or within a drone swarm.
It is equipped with advanced technologies, including multi-spectral LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), a laser designator, radiofrequency catcher, 4G/5G satellite communication systems, and a specially designed artificial intelligence suite.
The Beluga is water-resistant and has a low-noise propeller for covert military operations depending on how customers reconfigure it.
